Georgia Bank & Trust robbery,That dye will be very hard to get off.
It was a quick response by Richmond County Investigators. Within minutes of two suspects robbing the Georgia Bank & Trust, authorities set up an intense perimeter blocks from the crime scene. Witnesses at the bank say they saw two guys get into this green Chevy. Investigators say the getaway car was found between Parnell and Emmett Street. That is where authorities set up and searched the area with k-9’s.Lieutenant Scott Pebble, Richmond County Sheriffs Office: “We are searching under peoples houses looking for signs of any fresh disturbance around the houses.”
Investigators tell us red dye from the stolen money pack exploded inside the car. Authorities believe the suspects fled on foot leaving a trial of money behind. Some in the neighborhood watched as the operation unfolded.Tommie Stacy, Augusta: ‘’It’s just amazing to me how some people are.”Fraendy Clervaud, Reporting: “With the perimeter set, investigators checked several cars coming in and out of the area to make sure none of the suspects were hiding out in them.”Three schools were placed on lockdown including Tubman Middle.Tommie Stacy, Augusta: “I feel that was the right thing to do to keep the kids safe and all you never know these guys are desperate to get away some times. No telling what they might do.”Investigators say the thieves can run but they can’t hide the fact that red dye is all over them. Lieutenant Scott Pebbles, Richmond County Sheriffs Office: “That dye will be very hard to get off. It’s likely if it got on the skin that taking it off the skin will be a bit painful and will probably cause abrasions it’s not something that can be wiped off easily.”
